About Sheuvaun
Sheuvaun F. Vernon is the founder and principal attorney of
The Law Office of Sheuvaun Vernon, PLLC, a New York-based practice focused on estate planning, wills and trusts, real estate, and business law.
She brings nearly a decade of experience across corporate law, finance, and financial regulation — training that sharpened a particular skill set: the ability to read complex financial structures, identify what protects people and what leaves them exposed, and build documentation precise enough to hold up when it matters most.
Her legal career began at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she assisted with examinations of self-regulatory organizations and broker-dealers. She then joined the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), where she developed surveillance frameworks for emerging financial markets, conducted analyses of firms' financial operations and supervisory practices, and evaluated legal and financial disclosures for regulatory compliance. That foundation — learning to read the machinery of money at the regulatory level — shaped everything that came after.
From FINRA, Sheuvaun moved into private practice at BurgherGray LLP, where she drafted indentures, security agreements, and subscription agreements for structured finance transactions, built a transaction database that streamlined the firm's operations, and designed and presented a continuing legal education course on CLOs and leveraged loans. At Guggenheim Partners, she advised the capital markets team and investment committee on debt financing transactions — including direct lending, syndicated loans, and private placements — and developed internal protocols that improved the legal team's operational efficiency.
She brought that same level of precision to McDermott Will & Schulte (formerly Schulte Roth & Zabel), where she spent several years drafting and negotiating documentation for debt financings — structured financings and esoteric debt instruments — through every stage of the deal. She managed junior associates, represented the firm at panels, and spearheaded the reorganization of the firm's Black Resource Group. In 2023, the Structured Finance Association recognized her with a Leader Spotlight in its Women in Securitization initiative.
And in 2026, she left to build something of her own. Sheuvaun founded The Law Office of Sheuvaun Vernon for individuals and families who have worked to build something — and want to make sure it's protected. She brings the same precision and care to every client that she brought to every deal, filing, and negotiation throughout her career.
